The Movember 2015 event organized by Animi Team took the form of a street party at one of our favourite cocktail bars in Larnaca, Old Market St. (which we also thank for their donation to Movember foundation).
I believe Antonis at that day he wanted to killed me or maybe he sworn to himself never to had another beer with me . Well anyway the goal was accomplished. The turnout was amazing!!
In a huge board on the street with the title “MOVEMBER MEANS…” people were writing what Movember means to them. Awareness was there, people knowing why moustaches were left to grow and they were contributing to the cause. I couldn’t be more grateful to Antonis for agreeing to the cause and setting up an example ( and I think he was pleased to do so at the end ☺ ).
As the barber cut the first piece of beard then there was that feeling that no money can buy.
So what are you up to this Movember?

November 2014
Movember (a portmanteau of the Australian-English diminutive word for moustache, "mo", and "November") as described in wikipedia and as I will attempt to put in a nutshell, is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of mental health problems and various cancers, such as prostate cancer.
The moto of Movember Foundation is to "change the face of men's health."
By encouraging men (whom the charity refers to as "Mo Bros") to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
How did it begun: In 1999 a group of young men in Adelaide, South Australia coined the term "Movember" and the idea of growing moustaches for charity throughout the month of November. In the news report, members of the Adelaide-based "Movember Committee" explained how they came up with the idea for Movember one night in the pub. The group started with 80 men from Adelaide and soon became a nationwide phenomenon. They also aimed to raise money for the RSPCA through selling T-shirts in what they termed "Growing whiskers for whiskers".
In 2004, an unrelated group in Melbourne, Victoria organised an event where 30 men would grow a moustache for 30 days in order to raise awareness for prostate cancer and depression in men. This group would later become the Movember Foundation charity that know has an international recognision and supports activities worldwide.
A bit of History
Movember

Awareness is the key so my dream team Animi (Maria, Eva, Stavri, Kyriaki) set to organize a unique event for people in my hometown to get informed and aware.
Mo Photography contest was initiated and Mo Cocktail Challenge was accepted, were people were taking pictures with moustaches and local bars were making unique cocktails named Movember while they were giving information flyers for the Movember cause.
The big event was named Movember Bazaar and it took place in a neglected up then arcade. With a great team effort and help from volunteers, this arcade became alive with saxophone sounds drowing the public in, decorative moustaches and benches with arts and crafts that supported the cause. It was a lovely day full of positive energy and people that embraced the cause. Mission accomplished awareness was created.
As I was watching the balloon moustaches and carried away from the magical saxophone I came to realize that no money could ever buy the feeling of giving for a noble cause.

So what are you up to this Movember?
Everybody loves The moustache. You will find it decorating recent fashion items. Stylish, thin and black. But underneath this stylish symbol lies more than just hair.
The Moustache
Now imagine a bar, a rock bar to be more specific. And now imagine a guy in that bar. Muscled up with a long beard (you think he was born with that beard) and with very strong opinions on matters as he has a Phd in sociology.

I eyed Antonis beard for Movember for quite a time but he was always running away from me. Well after a couple of beers no one can run away so we made a pact and imagined on the spot the only way that I could cut of his beard for Movember it was if we could make a unique awareness short film. We directed the whole thing at one night : how it will be a silent , funny video that will aim to create awareness for Movember and the end would have pointed out to the actual date of the beard cut off-one year after in November 2015.

Well Antonis, counted that I was drunk and I would forget all about it-not!! So although he never told me I think I became his living nightmare.

The video making process was hilarious with everyone in Animi Team being involved in their own way. With the instructions of my sister Stavri (director, video maker, styling - yes she is the talented girl for all jobs) the outcome of the video was a huge success and you can see it here down below!
